The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has shut down its orientation camps nationwide and has sent home all corps members as a way of curbing the spread of the coronavirus pandemic currently ravaging nations across the world.
INDEPENDENT reliably gathered from one of the serving corps members that the NYSC made the announcement to the corpers at the parade ground on Wednesday morning.
The corps member said the order came from the NYSC headquarters in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The corpers were told to leave the camp immediately after receiving their letters to their places of primary assignments and transport allowance.
The camps opened last Tuesday and usually last for three weeks.
The virus has killed over 7000 persons globally and three cases have been confirmed in Nigeria, although no death has been recorded.
